Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and creative Pastry Chef to lead the pastry program for a growing collection of upscale, chef-driven restaurants in San Francisco. This is an exciting opportunity for a culinary professional who thrives on balancing creativity with operational excellence while developing memorable desserts and overseeing efficient production across multiple concepts.

Working closely with the Executive Chef and culinary leadership team, you will design seasonal dessert menus, establish production systems, maintain exceptional quality standards, and help shape the future of an expanding pastry program.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the pastry and dessert program across multiple restaurant concepts.
  • Develop innovative seasonal dessert menus that complement each restaurant's culinary identity.
  • Produce high-quality desserts, breads, pastries, viennoiserie, and specialty baked goods.
  • Standardize recipes, plating guides, and production procedures to ensure consistency.
  • Manage daily production schedules to support multiple restaurant locations.
  • Maintain exceptional quality, consistency, and presentation across every service.
  • Source premium ingredients and oversee pastry inventory and ordering.
  • Monitor food costs while maintaining the highest quality standards.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and develop pastry team members.
  • Maintain impeccable sanitation, organization, and food safety standards.
  • Collaborate with Executive Chefs and Operations leadership to continuously evolve and enhance dessert offerings.


Preferred Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of pastry leadership experience within upscale or fine dining restaurants.
  • Strong creative abilities balanced with excellent organizational and production management skills.
  • Deep understanding of seasonal ingredients and ingredient-driven pastry.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance artistry, consistency, and profitability.
  • Experience managing inventory, purchasing, food costs, and labor.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Passion for mentoring and developing pastry professionals while fostering a positive kitchen culture.
  • Commitment to hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences.
  • Experience overseeing pastry production for multiple restaurant concepts is highly preferred.
  • Bread and viennoiserie experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Mediterranean and French-inspired pastry is beneficial but not required.
